Learn without forgetting by changing your habits.

Have you ever felt lazy, distracted, or spaced out as you attempted to remember things from a book or while studying? Or do you need tips on retaining more information during your study sessions? Over sixty years, Bob Proctor was educated in personal development and was trained by his mentor, Napoleon Hill. He learned that changing your paradigm, your subconscious mind that controls your habits, is key to effectively memorizing information.

 Paradigm shift impact on memorization.

Our paradigm may cause us to procrastinate or forget small details. In the 1880s, Hermann Ebbinghaus’s Forgetting Curve formed a model that shows us how much time it takes us to forget. He experimented by memorizing a series of random syllables and noted how time, transparency, lack of reviewing information, lack of meaning, and mood affected memory. Forgetfulness may build up stress, missed opportunities, and wasted time. Bob Proctor recommends three helpful tips on shifting your paradigm from your short-term storage to your long-term memory storage found below.

What is a paradigm shift?

A paradigm is your habitual way of thinking. Thomas Kuhn, a philosopher of science, introduced the idea of a paradigm shift in his 1962 book, The Structure of Scientific Revolutions. They are embedded into your subconscious mind. Shifting your paradigm is replaced with new beliefs and thoughts.

Three tips on shifting your memory by shifting your paradigm.

Strong emotions and repetition help shift your paradigm. Sometimes feelings are so intense, whether it’s positive or negative can permanently change your life. Repetition is also key to retaining new information into your long-term memory.

1. Think in Images

Repeatedly visualize new information as an image. Continually review the image to help shift your paradigm. Overtime repetition allows you to retain your memories in the subconscious mind.

2. Feel and Think with Emotions

Review the image, read, write, or listen to the new information in your emotional mind for at least 15 minutes a day. The more you study the information with purpose and transparency, the more you learn. You will start to live in vibration with it. You will learn to effectively memorize more details and keep ahold of it in your subconscious mind.

3. Become the Script

Write a script of the life you desire. Read the script over and over each day. Read it with purpose and become emotionally connected to it. The repetition and the emotional connection will allow the script to become a part of how you live.

Shift your paradigm.

Our conscious mind tends to put us in a paradigm of forgetfulness. We tend to become lazy, or we become overwhelmed with information overload. To store more information in our long-term memory, we take action by repetition and learn with purpose. Make it meaningful. Study and review the new material for at least 15 minutes each day. Doing so will help you feel less overwhelmed. Repetition and being emotionally involved with memorizing what you read or write will began to shift your paradigm.
